Trampoline Game Basics

Everybody loves games. Games appeal to kids in particular, teaching them the importance of social activity. Additionally, games can be a great source of exercise. A trampoline game adds the factor of the trampoline, increasing your game’s exercise value and the undeniably fun sensation of temporary flight that results from jumping up and down on one.

Games vary from the minimum number of people needed to play them, to whether the game needs additional props or not, to the amount of skill needed to play them. The following is a short list of trampoline games for you and/or your kids to play:

Seat Drop Wars – This is one of the simplest games that can be played on a trampoline. With one other person on the trampoline, do a bounce and a seat drop alternately. The winner is the one who can maintain the order for a longer time than the other.

Follow the Leader – One member, who is assigned as the leader, does a trick, which one other person on the trampoline, assigned as the follower, must copy as they bounce alternately. Play rotates, with the follower becoming the leader and vice versa, when the leader executes a trick that the follower cannot copy.

Bouncing Contests – This trampoline game starts with one player doing as many seat drops as he/she can manage without returning to a bounce. Any number of players may follow, each doing as many seat drops as they can, and the one who does the most is declared the winner. Variations involve alternating increasing numbers of seat drops and bounces (seat drop, bounce, seat drop, seat drop, bounce, and so on).

Trampoline Dodgeball – Any number of players stand on the side of the trampoline. The game begins by one member bouncing a ball into the center of the trampoline. All the players then jump onto the trampoline, avoiding the ball as it bounces. A person who gets hit by the ball is out, and the last one remaining on the trampoline is declared the winner.

Always remember: safety comes first. Make sure to use a trampoline that can withstand the abuse that comes with playing games on it, make sure your trampoline is in a place where there is a lot of room, make sure that you and your children are wearing the right clothes (loose-fitting clothes can cause trouble for trampoline springs), and make sure that there is a parent or other qualified individual nearby to supervise and assist in case of accidents. Follow these guidelines to ensure a safe, fun trampoline game.
